Step 3: Set Up Sling for Scheduling
Sling is the scheduling software we use.
You will receive a Sling invite once your Paychex setup is completed. Please wait for the invite before creating an account.
After creating your account, you are responsible for keeping your availability accurate and up to date in Sling.
If you are in school, be sure to enter your school schedule.
Any special unavailability must be entered into Sling by Monday (at the latest) each week in order to be reflected in the following week’s schedule.
Entering Your Schedule in Sling:
Unavailability vs. Time Off
Sling has two different ways to block time on your schedule, and it is important to use the correct one.
Unavailability is for time you are regularly unavailable on a repeating basis. This includes things like school schedules, a second job, or standing weekly commitments. These are times you are unavailable every week or on a consistent schedule.
You can learn how to enter unavailability here:
https://support.getsling.com/en/articles/1096937-enter-unavailability
Time Off is for one-time or non-repeating days you need off, such as appointments, events, or personal days.
You can learn how to request time off here:

Using the correct option helps ensure schedules are accurate and allows the scheduling process to run smoothly. Unfortunately, we cannot approve requests that are entered incorrectly, so please double check if you feel you may need to. Carol can also send a screen-recording if needed to assist you.
If you need help understanding which one to use, please let Carol know. She will be happy to walk you through it if it means you're entering your availability correctly!
Sling also has a mobile app available for easier access once your account is set up.
